LJ interests meme via dodging_fate
Look at your LJ 'interests' list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them here, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

1. Annie Dillard - My high school English teacher, Mrs. Maldonado, introduced us to a variety of different writers, and Annie Dillard really stuck out to me, and has ever since. When she writes about watching a frog floating around in a lake and then all of sudden she realizes that a giant water bug has eaten the thing, it just sent chills down my spine. Absolutely wonderful reading, in my opinion.

2. Bret Easton Ellis - Hey look, another writer. After having watched Less Than Zero so long ago, I had to rush out and buy the novel. The characters were going through things that I could only begin to imagine about, and I just got sucked in. I ended up having to hide American Psycho, but I could probably find it given enough time.

3. Darren Aronofsky - I devoured Pi the first time I saw it, and knew I'd probably like pretty much anything by Mr. Aronofsky.

4. Dr. Who - I can't even begin to tell you how much Dr. Who I watched on WPBT in Miami while growing up. Tom Baker and Peter Davison were my favorite Doctors, and Tegan and K-9 were my favorite sidekicks. If we'd had cable, I get a feeling I'd have missed out on Dr. Who.

5. Gorillaz - Well, I liked music by Blur, so it only made sense that I'd end up liking Gorillaz, no?

6. Jane's Addiction - My friends in high school introduced me to Jane's Addiction and, being the young impressionable monkey I was, I was drawn in by the nudity in the album cover art. The music rocked, too.

7. Magic the Gathering Online - I've been playing Magic the Gathering for quite some time now, even after vowing I'd NEVER play it. So much for vows, well, that vow anyway. When it went online, I pretty much freaked and HAD to play. Still do, every once in a while.

8. Natalie Merchant - I fell for Natalie Merchant sometime in 1988 or 1989, a bit after In My Tribe and just before Blind Man's Zoo, or something like that. I figured if they were good enough for Michael Stipe, they were definitely good enough for me. I would just sit and listen to those two CDs over and over again. It would drive my stepfather nuts, since he was into KISS, Motley Crue, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. . .

9. Pet Shop Boys - I hated, hated, HATED West End Girls, so I figured I'd hate anything else by Pet Shop Boys. I was mistaken, though I wish I could remember when or why it was that I really got into PSB.

10. Rilo Kiley - Thanks to mineral777Adam, I started listening to Rilo Kiley. That Adam, he's alright, I tell ya--I'm sure I've said it before.

So how come you play MTGO after you said you wouldn't?

Well, I actually vowed that I wouldn't ever play Magic. Period.

Somewhere along the line, I found myself with a lot of free time and a weakened mental state and succumbed to the cards. It's a sad story, but I have found something of a balance between real life and the game and other things, so...
